Message from St Joseph
King David was the only man named in Scripture as a “man after God’s own heart”. It is also safe to say that St. Joseph was a man after God’s own heart. He was ingle-minded and whole-heated in his desire to follow and do God’s will no matter the consequence. Consider what the Holy Spirit reveals to us about St. Joseph in the Scriptures. On four different occasions, God’s will was revealed to Joseph by means of an angel, and in each instance, Joseph responded with complete obedience. These are evidenced in Matthew 1:24-25; Matthew 2:13-14; Matthew 2:19-21 and Matthew 2:22-23.
St. Joseph intently listened to the voice of God and acted upon it from the time he awoke. Each day, we can hear St. Joseph emphatically resound, “Yes!” to the Lord’s call and will. In the heart of Joseph was the desire to adore the heart of God and as a result, his deepest desires were satisfied.
Heavenly Father, give me the grace and desire to become a man after your own heart. Help me to follow your will and trust in your goodness. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done.
February State Deputy’s Message
I usually write my State Deputy message first and then add the St. Joseph message second. However, for February it’s reversed. Why? Because the message on St. Joseph touches my heart (no pun intended). As brother Knights, we show our love for God and our Lord Jesus Christ by serving others. It is also a wonderful time to show our love by giving blood as your “sacrifice” may actually be someone else’s “gift” for life.
Valentine’s Day is synonymous with the month of February and this is an awesome opportunity for us to show our love and appreciation to our wives, mothers, girlfriends, daughters, etc. Whether you show your love with flowers, chocolate, an evening out with dinner or an evening in, with friends and family or without, spending that quality time with your loved one is what is most important.
Always be mindful that when we “serve”, we are giving the best we that we can to those that need us for whatever reason. For me, that is my wife Lois, my parents, my family, my friends and neighbors, my brother Knights and their families, and most importantly, my God and Jesus Christ. Vivat Jesus!
