2018 American Red Cross Blood Drive
Council: 2219 - WESTBROOK
Westbrook Council #2219 hosted a Red Cross Blood Drive on Friday April 20, 2018 at St Hyacinth’s Church Hall (St Anthony Parish) Westbrook from 1:00 – 6:00pm. This is the first of three scheduled blood drives in 2018. The drive ran from 1-6pm. Setup began at 12:00pm with unloading the truck and preparation of the drive. Cleanup was completed by 7:00pm. A special thank you to the boy scouts who helped out the night before the drive by stacking all chairs and moving all tables from the Hall to prepare for the drive. This was an important drive due to continued blood shortages and the cancellation of many drives in March due to inclement weather. Our goal for the drive was to collect 25 units of blood. We had 17 donors scheduled, but with unscheduled walk-in donors we ended up collecting a total of 29 units of life saving blood. This was a very successful drive as we succeeded our goal by 4 units! The 29 units of blood collected can save up to 87 lives!
