Assisting In A Celebration Of Life. 15791
Council: 15791 - FALMOUTH
One of our council brothers along with his wife, family, and friends participated in a Celebration Of Life. The location for this celebration was at a private home in South Portland on Saturday August 17, 2019. As a knight of Columbus we are called to step up and support many causes, programs, and families in their time of need. In the case of this Celebration Of Life, this was a very blessed day for us as a family, and for the family members who we were remembering this very special lady. On February 8, 2019 my wife’s only living aunt passed away in her sleep in Florida at the age of 90. Because of it being Winter here in Maine this celebration was scheduled for yesterday. Upon arriving early we found that my wife’s cousin needed help in preparing for this event with the many small and large things which needed to be set-up, etc. The celebration of Life Ceremony started with a song called “Morning Has Broken” which all who gathered sung, Following the opening song there was a few words said by one of the deceased family members daughters. Being a knight of Columbus, and Secular Franciscan I was please to have taken the lead along with my wife in reciting the Lord’s Prayer. Following the Lord’s Prayer Family and friends joined in with an hour of Reflection time by many who attended. Prior to everyone having lunch, one of the grandson’s played on his guitar “In My Life”. The songs sung today were favorite songs of a deceased son who passed away in 2013. In closing there was a Prayer said by a brother. Following this celebration we had all the food out and all enjoyed themselves with many items of food to pick from. Many of the family members stayed till the end and was still sharing stories about this very special mother, grandmother aunt, great-grandmother, and friend of many and a true believe in GOD. As a knight of this council I was pleased to have been there in support of my wife, and to say good bye to this very special lady who I myself was very close to. May her soul rest in peace along with her son’s.
