Beach Olympics for Special Olympics
Council: 9782 - WELLS
Every year Maine Special Olympics have counted on many Non-Profit Organizations to assist with the Toll Booth collections for Special Olympics at Old Orchard Beach. This past year the director experienced a severe decline in volunteerism in other organizations due to the increasing age of many of their members. Fortunately, his “go to” organization has been the Maine Knights, and again we pulled through with outstanding results.
Out of the 40 timeslots needed to cover the two collection areas, 30 were filled with members of the Knights of Columbus councils around the State of which a total of 14 were filled from the Wells Fr. Kelly Council 9782. Many of our members were first time volunteers and based on their remarks, we a confident they will be returning this coming year. The Director of Maine Special Olympics sent a heartfelt thank you for the successful efforts of the Knights and remarked how he can always count on our organization to pull through for the success of our Special Olympians.
