Blue Mass
Council: 1423 - No. WHITEFIELD
Project Description:
On September 11, 2001, terrorists attacked three locations in the United States: New York City (World Trade Center Towers), Arlington, VA (The Pentagon), and a twarted highjack attempt was crashed in a field near Shanksville, PA. Since that attack, in proximity to the anniversary date, the Diocese of Portland celebrates a “Blue Mass” to recognize the service and sacrifice of the First Responders (Military, Fire Services, Law Enforcement, Dispatch, and Emergency Medical Services) personnel who serve our State and local communities 24/7, in all seasons and weather. The Honor Guards, statewide, provide an escort to the Clergy and Eucharist during this Mass.
