CHRISTMAS MITTEN TREES (COLD WEATHER CLOTHING)

01/13/2021

Council: 11257 - PORTLAND

Project Description:

PLACED A CHRISTMAS TREE IN THE REAR OF BOTH ST. JOSEPH’S CHURCH, ST. PIUS CHURCH AND A BOX OUTSIDE OF ST. PIUS FOR 24X7 DROP OFF ON THE SUNDAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING SO THAT PARISHIONERS ARE ABLE TO DONATE HATS, MITTENS, SOCKS AND SCARVES FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS. THESE DONATED GOODS WERE THEN DELIVERED TO THE ST. VINCENT DE PAUL FOR DISTRIBUTION TO THOSE IN NEED OF WARM CLOTHES FOR THE WINTER. THIS YEAR, THE PARISH GAVE ABOUT 175 PAIRS OF MITTENS, GLOVES, HATS AND SCARVES DESPITE THE PANDEMIC. AGAIN THIS YEAR WE LEFT THE TREES UP UNTIL EPIPHANY 2021. PGK and FS PETER ROVNAK DOES THIS EVERY YEAR. THERE WAS AN ARTICLE ABOUT THE EVENT IN THE HARVEST MAGAZINE FEB/JAN ISSUE.
