Coats for Kids
Council: 10019 - LEWISTON
Project Description:
With the conclusion of this year’s Coats for Kids project, the Holy Family Council membership, wish to thank all parishioners and sponsors, who donated money and or their time and labor, to make this year’s project a great success. Over one hundred local children and young teens are now just a bit warmer when they go outdoors to play.
On September 25th, the council sponsored a sit-down spaghetti supper which raised over $2,500. With your wonderful support, we were able to purchase one hundred eight coats. We distributed these coats, hats, and mittens with the aid of the Dominican Sisters, Loaves & Fishes organization of Sabattus. We had some excess, so we brought another load to Farwell School in Lewiston, the remaining load was given to the St. Dominic Academy Key Club, for their distribution thru the ‘Adopt Families for Christmas Program’.
Special thanks goes to the Waterford Fish & Game Association for their generous check of $300.00 and a donation of fifty hats knitted by talented ladies. Another generous benefactor who wishes to be anonymous donating $500.
We want to especially thank the ladies that donated their time and talent by knitting very beautiful and colorful hats, mittens, scarves of various sizes, all given out with the coats. The kids loved them, their smiles told the story.
Thank you all, your rewards will be great.
