Dinner Honoring Family Promise Volunteers
Council: 2219 - WESTBROOK
The Westbrook Council of the Knights of Columbus Monthly Dinner for April was very special in that it honored the many Family Promise Volunteers. Family Promise is an organization which assists homeless families by coordinating with several area churches in providing shelter for these families to assist them by providing a safe temporary home along with food and other necessities. St. Anthony’s Parish is an active participant in the Family Promise Program and nearly 100 community volunteers (from all faiths) help when it is St. Anthony’s turn to host these families. The Knights invited all 100 volunteers to attend the April Knight’s dinner to recognize these volunteers for their dedication to helping these homeless families. The dinner was prepared by the Daughters of Isabella and each Knight pays a fee to the Daughters for the meal for themselves and their spouse. The Westbrook Knights of Columbus paid for the dinners of the 33 Community Volunteers who attended the dinner honoring their volunteer service which was acknowledged and discussed by the Grand Knight during the ceremony.
