Disposal of over 230 Fluorescent Bulbs
Council: 2219 - WESTBROOK
Project Description:
Our council paid for and provided the manpower to convert all the fluorescent bulb units in our offices and parish hall to LED. Payback on this conversion was estimated to be five years or less. One problem is that we were left with 180 2-ft U-shaped bulbs and 40+ 4-ft bulbs. The local trash facility allows 20-ft of bulbs to be recycled for free each day, while anything over that cost $0.25 per foot. Our Grand Knight took it upon himself to make over 20 separate trips over about six months (whenever he was going that way) and disposed of all the units for free. Now that’s Efficiency Maine!
