Distribution of Food & Gifts

01/01/2019

Council: 2219 - WESTBROOK

Project Description:

Every year prior to Christmas, many local families and senior citizens ask for help in obtaining food and gifts so they can enjoy the Christmas Holiday as so many not in need do. With so much work involved at this particular time of year, several Brother Knights from Council 2219, who also reside in close proximity of Windham, along with a group of local residences jump in to assist to insure all families and senior citizens acquire what they need to make their Holidays more enjoyable., On the 17th of December 2018 families in need as well as senior citizens came to the Windham Food Pantry and received all of the necessary food, ie turkey, ham and all of the fixings necessary for a great Christmas dinner. In conjunction with the food all of the senior citizens received a special gift bag containing an assortment of gifts which had been donated by the Windham Rotary Club. After receiving their food items, volunteers helped the recipients carry out their goods to their vehicles. On December 20, 2018, these same volunteers again arrived at the Windham Food Pantry and greeted the families in need and were given gifts for their children that they had previously asked for and were further assisted in acquiring additional gifts which had been donated by many and displayed around the inside of the building. All the children were also given mittens or gloves along with a hat. It should also be noted that all children in need of a coat were given one, which had been donated by members of Council 2219, Westbrook, ME.
