Harvest Magazine rolling in "Dough"
Council: 9782 - WELLS
The Harvest Magazine is a very valuable tool to spread the word of the great works of the many ministries within our Diocese. Each year a fundraiser is held at the Holiday Inn in Portland where hundreds of supporters join together enjoying a wonderful meal, music and the ever popular silent auction.
Our council made a donation $500.00 for a table of eight which were quickly filled by our members. One of our members with a green thumb for pie baking was asked once again to bake various types of fruit pies which are separated into three “Pie Trilogies” for a total of 9 pies for the auction. Throughout the night people would gather around the multitude of beautiful donations to place their silent bids. The pies made by our member had been a huge success in the past and was no different this time as the nine pies made from our member by the end of the night brought in $460.00 for the Harvest magazine. It is very comical to watch the attendees keep a watchful eye on the pie trilogies to make sure they weren’t outbid. Our member says baking these pies is a labor of love and always looks forward to the following year when he can again be up to his elbows in dough for our Church.
