Project Description:
Ray and Claire are the proud parents of a son, Ray Jr. and a daughter Jeannie Anne. Ray Jr. lives in Cincinnati, Ohio and works as a Chemical Engineer. Sadly, their daughter Jeannie Anne had passed away in 1990.
Ray and Claire have been communicants at our parish for the past several years. Both are very active in parish activities. Ray and Claire, being former teachers, have taught CCD for several years. Both serve as Eucharistic Ministers. Ray is also a former Lector. Both Ray and Claire are members of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. Ray was Chairman of the Tri-Parish Council.
Beside being involved in church activities, Ray and Claire were involved in community activities. Ray coached SSYAA Baseball and Basketball while their son Ray, Jr. was involved in local sports. Ray also served at President of the Sanford School Board and President of the St. Thomas School Board.
Claire was a member of the Salvation Army Advisory board for 12 years, 10 of those years serving as secretary. Claire is a member and the Daughters of Isabella too.
Up to the time of his retirement, Ray was Head of Personnel for the Department of Navy at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
We cannot forget Ray’s involvement in the Knights of Columbus. Ray has been a Knight for almost 30 years. Ray served as Sanford Council Treasurer and Grand Knight. In the W. Robert Bachelder Fourth Degree Assembly #357, Ray served as Comptroller and Faithful Navigator. Ray is also an Honor Guard Commander. In the Maine State Knights of Columbus, Ray served as Treasurer, Warden, Secretary, State Deputy and Past State Deputy. Ray was a District Deputy too.
