Memorial Mass Support
Council: 13181 - SABATTUS
Remembering the fallen Knights in our Council has been particularly challenging during the pandemic. We have had several Knights that have passed away during this time and many of the families have been prevented from or have opted out of having a funeral or memorial service for their loved ones.
Sir Knight Robert Tanguay passed away during this time, but his family was insistent that he be properly remembered. The family reached out to me, Robert Michaud, to ask for our Council to coordinate a K of C memorial service for Robert. The funeral was scheduled for September and the Covid restrictions were lifting slightly, so it appeared that we would be able to do this. We had to make several modifications to be in compliance with state mandates, but the Knights of Council #13181 were determined to make it work.
There was no memorial or wake services at the nursing home, so we had to conduct our service after mass outside the church before the procession left for the cemetary. The family and the parish was willing and able to adjust to these changes and the weather cooperated for us as well. Myself, along with Dan Bouffard, James Ingalls, Don Champagne, James Daigle and Bob Desbiens led a memorial and prayer service outside of Our Lady of the Rosary along with the presentation of a Resolution of Condolence to the family and flowers.
