NAMI TRAINING CONFERENCE
Council: 334 - AUGUSTA
I was asked to participate in a NAMI training program for suicide prevention that was to be held live at the Augusta Civic Center in April. The conference was moved to a virtual format held on Oct. 1, 2020 due to the present pandemic. I recorded a presentation twice and had a zoom meeting and an in person meeting prior to the first recording held on 08/21/2020.
The topic that I presented for the conference revolved around my career as a detective. The specific topic concerned the many sexual abuse cases involving children that I investigated over a 12 1/2 year period of time and the effects they had on me. The segment was about Moral Injury.
I chose August 21st as the start date when I spent 4 hours recording my first presentation which was changed later on. I met with a staff member prior to that date to plan the presentation then when it was changed to a virtual format I had a zoom meeting. I also do not know the precise number of instructors so I listed 10 as an estimate.
This was a volunteer activity on my part and I put invested about 8 hours total in this project.
