Nativity Display and Sale
Council: 2219 - WESTBROOK
Our retired parish priest had collected nativity sets from around the world for over 50 years. He decided it was time to donate them to the parish for a combination of display and sale. Work began in October when it took 12 knights two hours to move the 130 sets from the church balcony to the parish hall. The event was scheduled, and we were able to get a front-page story in several local newspapers. Five knights spent six hours per day for 5 days unpacking, arranging, conducting the event, and packing everything up after. Twenty-one better sets were retained by the parish for their own use, while over 80 sets were sold to the public, netting over $6,000 for the parish. A lovely display of eleven sets currently adorns the vestibule and narthex. An excel spreadsheet capturing the buyers and transactions was prepared by the council GK. A photo of the display area is attached.
