SACRAMENTAL GIFTS - SPRED Program
Council: 10019 - LEWISTON
A thank you letter to the Prince of Peace parish Faith community.
Our Knight of Columbus council membership, wish to express our gratitude to all parishioners who helped support the recent Spaghetti & Meatball Supper, our latest Faith project.
The event was served at the church parking lot, under a white tent, with all COVID-19 protocols in place. All proceeds $950.00, (after expenses) were donated the St. Joseph’s SPRED Program “SPRED, SPecial Religious EDucation”, was started in 1991, at St Joseph’s Church in Lewiston. The program offers religious education, as well as sacramental preparation to those students of POP parish who have physical disabilities or special needs.
It now continues (pre-covid) at Sacred Heart Church Hall in Auburn, where the group meets for twelve to fourteen planned sessions from October through April. A very dedicated staff of nine volunteers, led by Irene Chamberlain, provide this much-needed hands on training for ages ten years old and older. We are told by some of the volunteers that the students so greatly appreciate the care and teaching they receive!
The supper funds will be used to update their class religious books, music and the many required supplies for their activities. Without your generous support we could not have helped the St. Joseph’s SPRED Program.
Wishing you our prayers and all of God’s Blessings to you.
