Support Peoples VETO 2019. 15791
Council: 15791 - FALMOUTH
Fifteen council brothers, wives, and our Parish Staff participated in the 2019 “Support Peoples VETO for Pro-Life”, at all four worship sites in our Parish. The length of our campaign ran for three consecutive weekends starting on August 10, 2019. On August 8, 2019 our Council Grand Knight conducted a Team Meeting of those who would be collecting signatures at the weekend masses. At our August Business Meeting it was decided that our council would join in the effort to hopefully over turn two laws passed by the state legislature. We are hopeful that our efforts will be successful with the issues of “An Act to Enact the Maine Death with Dignity Act” and “An Act To Prevent Discrimination in Public and Private Insurance Coverage for Pregnant Women in Maine.” On Friday August 9, 2019 several of our council brothers set up tables in the church halls, and out side the churches to gather signatures after the Weekend Masses. Father Phil, Fr. Peter, Fr. Paul and our resident Deacon, spoke to the congregations about these proposed law changes. GK Mike Crowley, and our financial secretary Frank Knight, took the lead on this project, and their efforts allowed us to sign-up 841 voters. After the signatures were secured from the voters, the volunteers were required to take their sheets to their town office’s and have the signatures verified, and then they returned them to the Team Leader. Together as a team of Knights, Parish Staff and Parishioners,we were able to achieve this for PRO-LIFE.
