SURGE REPORT

06/01/2018

Council: 10020 - No. WINDHAM

Project Description:

FIVE OF US WERE OUT ON LITTLE SEBAGO LAKE IN OUR PONTOON BOAT LATE THURSDAY, MAY 31ST. WE SPOTTED A VERY SMALL BOAT WITH A FAMILY OF FOUR ON BOARD WHO HAD RUN OUT OF GAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DEEPEST PART OF THE LAKE. THE BOAT WAS POWERED BY AN ANCIENT, AND I MEAN ANCIENT, 2HP OUTBOARD. THE WIND WAS TOTALLY AGAINST THEM EVER REACHING THE PUBLIC BOAT LAUNCH WHERE THEY HAD LEFT THEIR VEHICLE. WE TOWED THEM TO THE BOAT LAUNCH. THERE WAS ENOUGH TRAFFIC ON THE LAKE TO SUGGEST THAT SOMEONE WOULD HAVE EVENTUALLY COME TO THEIR “RESCUE” AT SOME POINT……..SO NOT AN EMERGENCY RESCUE…JUST GOOD TIMING.
