Because of the Covid-19 pandemic this year the Tootsie Roll Drive was severely curtailed. The first activity for October was reformulated to meet social distancing protocols. With Mass attendance set to 100 parishioners per the governor’s mandate, donations fell precipitously. However, Saturday October 3rd and Sunday October 4th, donners were very generous. Brother knights donning the recognizable yellow and red aprons, holding canisters welcoming parishioners at each mass. They posted at the entrance for 45 minutes before mass and 15 minutes after mass to mass. That weekend yielded almost $350 for the drive.
The sad part of this year’s drive was the realization that the people with intellectual disabilities are loosing a large portion of their funding. With God’s grace next year will be our biggest drive yet.
