Council: 2219 - WESTBROOK
Council 2219 sponsored a variety show at Saint Anthony’s Parish. The theme of this year’s show was “Knights Love America.” It featured music, poetry, and humorous interludes. The show also included presentation of the flags of our military services. This was the seventh annual variety show that our council has sponsored. Most of the show consisted of a chorus, most of whom are members of Saint Anthony’s parish, singing songs that reflected the history of our country and the history of American music, e.g., early American folk songs, small-town America, a medley of songs about individual states, songs from the various wars, and a final singalong of patriotic songs. The musical director and emcee was Louis Philippe. Members of our council were among the performers and also were the primary organizers for the event. The audience numbered about 130.
Preparations for the show began in early July, with several rehearsals leading up to the event on October 19, 2019. Proceeds from the variety show went to support Family Promise, an organization that finds temporary housing for homeless families in houses of worship. Saint Anthony’s is a host church for Family Promise.
