Welcoming committee at Our Lady of Hope Parish
Council: 101 - PORTLAND
Masses opened up in June for parishioners of Our Lady of Hope (OLH) parish in Portland, ME. Four members of our council were part of the welcoming committees (which had several other volunteers) at Our Lady of Hope parish in Portland, ME. The primary responsibility of these committees was to insure we followed CDC guidelines for indoor group gatherings. The welcoming committee team members welcomed parishioners, checked them in for contact tracing, seated them to maintain social distancing, ushered during communion and leaving mass to continue to maintain social distancing, answered any questions or concerns of parishioners, handled the collection baskets at the end of mass and cleaned/disinfected the church after mass. Attendance varied and started out slow but picked up after a few weeks. Masses were attended by 40-50 people at 4:30 PM on Saturday’s and around 20 or so at 7 AM and 9 AM on Sunday’s. Overall attendance at all weekend masses and holiday masses was around 150.
