ABBA Baby Bottle Drive

ABBA Baby Bottle Drive

Council: 101 - PORTLAND

Project Description:

ABBA is a Women’s Resource Center that assists women whose lives have been changed due to an unplanned pregnancy. They assist women with pregnancy testing, limited obstetric ultrasounds, limited STI/STD testing, educational programs, sexual integrity programs, mentoring, and restoration programs. The Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of Hope Parish (OLH) in Portland, ME helps out ABBA by running their annual Baby Bottle Drive fundraiser at OLH parish’s two churches, St. Pius X and St. Joseph.

This is a follow up report entered on 1-10-21. The Grand Knight of council 101, with help from 2 members of council 11257, at OLH parish ran the baby bottle drive through the month of January then extended it into mid February to collect outstanding baby bottles with donations. This was done at both churches of OLH parish. The fundraiser raised just over $1400 including a $100 donation from council 101 in Portland and a $100 donation from council 11940 in Kennebunk. The time involved included setting up the two distribution and collection sites with poster displays, baskets/containers for the baby bottles and sign in sheets for those taking a bottle to fill with donations; gathering baby bottles and counting money; taking down displays, etc. and dropping off bottles and money to ABBA in Portland.
