ACTS proto-Core (April) --- 15791 Falmouth

06/24/2022

Council: 15791 - FALMOUTH

Project Description:

Two bother knights and 6 parishioners attender our past Parish ACTS retreat proto-Core meeting, the proto-Core Team meets every month to plan the annual women’s ACTS retreat and the men’s ACTS retreat

Women’s Prayer Service – May 21, 2022 – Cathy/Happy

Cathy emailed Fr. Cartwright, Fr. Paul Sullivan, Fr. Paul Marquis and Fr. Brian Conley about our plans for the day. Fr. Brian had a suggestion about using an Ignatian version of Lectio Divina, which we will research.
Button for signing up is ready on POTHE website. Ted Walsh did a poster and announcements will appear in each of the parish bulletins in the weeks after Easter. We have asked a few other ACTS Sisters to serve as Table Leaders. We hope to get 35-40 women to attend. We ask all to extend personal invitations to friends and acquaintances.
The men from That Man is You (which meets at Sacred Heart at 7 am on Saturdays) will help the women move tables around when we arrive that morning.

Immaculate Heart of Mary/Prince of Peace Men’s Retreat, May 2022

The IHM/POP Men’s Retreat is scheduled for May 19-22, 2022, at Camp Mechuwana. They have 20+ team members, including several from OLH/POTHE.
Our ACTS Ministry is committed to attending their Candlelight event on May 21; we will carpool from the Sacred Heart parking lot that evening to drive up. We want to support them as they supported us at our men’s retreat last November. Happy will contact Brian Labrecque for details; she will mention this prominently in our May ACTS newsletter and send a reminder note out to the ACTS Ministry close to May 21. Michael mentioned that he will be able to attend.

Other Business

Happy passed out copies of our updated ACTS brochure. Tom will make sure that it is posted at OLH.
Michael asked about the status of the campground at St. Gregory. It could be a perfect spot for an ACTS retreat. Many improvements need to be made before it could be used in summer (and further improvements if it is to be used in cooler weather). The campground is controlled by the Diocese; Arturo offered to discuss this with Fr. Cartwright once Father’s schedule opens up a little bit. Michael said he is willing to work on any action group that is formed about revitalizing the campground.

Our ACTS proto-Core also includes parishioners from Our Lady of Hope Parish, this accomplish two objectives, the first one is to help the Parish of The Holy Eucharist to strength our 3+ year ACTS ministry and to expand the reach of the ACTS retreat to other Parishes, over these past 3 years the ACTS retreat has touched and changed the lives of 100+ parishioners, the fruits of the retreat have been clear in the four core areas of ACTS, A (Adoration) C (Community), T (Theology) and S (Service), many of our Parish ministries have seen a grow in participation coming from the retreatants.

POTHE/OLH ACTS CORE Formation: Both pastors gave their blessing to move forward with forming a Core. By forming a Core, the POTHE/OLH ACTS Community will be a legal Community in the eyes of ACTS Missions. Forming a Core is the next step in the ACTS process after having the 4 Mission Retreats, 2 Men’s and 2 Women’s retreats. The Core is the “guiding body,” along with the pastors and Fr Marquis, our ACTS Chaplain, that assures that all retreats are kept in the true order that ACTS intended, SIMPLE, CATHOLIC, REVERENT.
