ACTS proto-Core (June) --- 15791 Falmouth
Council: 15791 - FALMOUTH
Project Description:
One bother knight and 8 parishioners attender our past Parish ACTS retreat proto-Core meeting, the proto-Core Team meets every month to plan the annual women’s ACTS retreat and the men’s ACTS retreat, our meetings were conducted at Holy Martyrs Church before the pandemic declaration, after the pandemic declaration we continue our meetings by means of video conference, during our last meeting the men’s ACTS retreat director gave an update on the retreat preparation and the COVID-19 guidelines to be used during the retreat preparation and during the retreat
1. Women’s Day of Reflection: The date and location was changed to 6/12/21 at St. Pius X church. 28 Women are registered to attend.
2. 2021 Men’s ACTS Retreat: The retreat Leadership Team has been selected.
3. ACTS related dates/times hosted at OLH have been added to the Parish Calendar:
4. Dates, Times, and Locations will have to be reserved on the POTHE calendar for 2021 Men’s ACTS retreat: This includes dates for Pulpit Talks, Send Off, and Home Coming Mass and reception.
5. Spiritual Companion Training through ACTS Missions: Details were provided about the Spiritual Companion Training program through the Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio. There is a cost and 2 yr commitment for individuals to participate. Protocore was asked to keep this in consideration and to start thinking about whether this would be an option for the POTHE/OLH ACTS community.
6. Update on book study hosted by OLH – Learning to Pray: A Guide for Everyone by James Martin. This will finish in June 2021 and participants remain enthusiastic about the book.
7. Protocore Responsibilities: More formal roles will be assigned at the July Protocore meeting. Outline of roles will be emailed to Protocore members prior to July meeting.
8. Several Protocore members expressed gratitude for service that Joann Segovia has provided the ACTS community for POTHE/OLH. Joann has decided to step away from her role on Protocore.
Our ACTS proto-Core also includes parishioners from Our Lady of Hope Parish, this accomplish two objectives, the first one is to help the Parish of The Holy Eucharist to strength our 3+ year ACTS ministry and to expand the reach of the ACTS retreat to other Parishes, over these past 3 years the ACTS retreat has touched and changed the lives of 100+ parishioners, the fruits of the retreat have been clear in the four core areas of ACTS, A (Adoration) C (Community), T (Theology) and S (Service), many of our Parish ministries have seen a grow in participation coming from the retreatants.
POTHE/OLH ACTS CORE Formation: Both pastors gave their blessing to move forward with forming a Core. By forming a Core, the POTHE/OLH ACTS Community will be a legal Community in the eyes of ACTS Missions. Forming a Core is the next step in the ACTS process after having the 4 Mission Retreats, 2 Men’s and 2 Women’s retreats. The Core is the “guiding body,” along with the pastors and Fr Marquis, our ACTS Chaplain, that assures that all retreats are kept in the true order that ACTS intended, SIMPLE, CATHOLIC, REVERENT.
