Project Description:

The ACTS Retreat is a Catholic weekend retreat designed with the purpose of engaging Catholics in their faith lives, especially within the parish community. It is not a vacation, but rather an opportunity to get away from the pressures of everyday life and deepen your relationship with God. ACTS stands for: Adoration- the call by, acceptance of, and response to God; Community- the love and caring of each other; Theology-the study of God through scripture and the Catholic Faith; and Service – to God and his people

A member of our council, Tom Luna, was very active with ACTS retreats in 2021. He was a Portocore member. Supported the women’s retreat ministry and with outreach, He did the coordination & communication with pastors/clergy. He evaluated, communicated and coordinated potential retreat sites. He developed, communicated and ran the pandemic safety plan. He prepared and led the retreat leadership team and team meetings. He did music planning and preparation; recruiting and marketing. He lead the retreat, He prepared/led the “Pentecost” event. He completed the afteraction report. The locations for ACTS in 2021 included Holy Martyrs church in Falmouth, St. Pius X church in Portland and Camp Mechuwana in Winthrop. There were 5 knights involved with ACTS as well as 40 participants.
