ACTS Retreats

Council: 101 - PORTLAND

Project Description:

The ACTS Retreat is a Catholic weekend retreat designed with the purpose of engaging Catholics in their faith lives, especially within the parish community. It is not a vacation, but rather an opportunity to get away from the pressures of everyday life and deepen your relationship with God. ACTS stands for: Adoration- the call by, acceptance of, and response to God; Community- the love and caring of each other; Theology-the study of God through scripture and the Catholic Faith; and Service – to God and his people. Three members of our council, Tom Luna, Paul Leblond and Jesse Senore, along with several other Knights and many other volunteers were actively involved in ACTS here in Maine. Tom’s activities with ACTS included protocore (monthly coordination meetings), Our Lady of Hope (OLH) parish coordinator; retreat leadership team meetings, coordination and retreat marketing; retreat team meetings and involved in talk preparation. Paul and Jesse were involved in retreat team meetings. Meetings involved preparation and training for the ACTS retreat which consisted of prayer, understanding what the retreat is all about, and learning and preparing the tasks needed for a successful retreat. Unfortunately because of the pandemic the Women’s retreat scheduled for May and the Men’s retreat scheduled for November had to be cancelled.
