Project Description:

Brother Blake Langley started preparing for the BBQ around noon. With clear skies, he started setting up the Grill and Dunk Station that would be used by the school and parish faculty. Around 3pm Brother Jeff Schaller, Kevin Cronin, EJ Hikel and Jim Fazzino arrived to set up the 20 tables, canopies and chairs. Over the next hour, the brothers, move the tables from the church to the school parking lot. Around 4pm Brother John Newcomb arrived who would be the main grill master. That’s when the clouds started to move in. We consulted Principal Johanna Lake and she heard rain was moving in. As families started to arrive, the brothers shifted to move and setup tables in the all purpose room to be able to shift to indoor meal. Families provided the food and paper products and all were smiles as the rain hit around 5pm and families started to arrive. The set up in the all purpose room went well but it was crowded. The buffet line was full of food. We also kept our eyes on the trash cans as they filled up. As soon the meal was over, the kids found the friends they had missed over the summer and they went outside to enjoy the fresh air after the heavy rain come during the meal but later cleared off. We had to pick up two sets of tables because of the rain, the ones in the all purpose room and the ones outdoors from St. Mary’s church. We had lots of help from parents, and faculty to help the Knights wrap up a great back to school BBQ.
