Altar Service BBQ
Altar Service BBQ
Council: 1423 - No. WHITEFIELD
Project Description:
The proper celebration of the Mass requires the active participation of many different people: the Clergy (Priest), the various Ministers (Music, Lectors, Sacristans, Ushers/Collectors/Greeters), and others. One of the Ministries which is often underappreciated is that of Altar Server. Many times, this function is performed by adults, but during weekend Masses, it is performed by the Youth of the Parish. These young Ministers are mentored by adults, but, once the Mass starts, it is a “rite of passage”, or, “a baptism by Fire”. To honor the active participation in the Mass, this Parish (St. Michael the Archangel), with its six worship sites, planned a celebratory party for these young Ministers. It consisted of many interactive games, sporting-type events, and, of course: FOOD! The three Councils of the Parish combined resources, efforts, and manpower to set-up, conduct, and clean-up after the event. It was a wonderful event, with many thankful and positive comments afterward. A special thanks to the Pastoral Life Coordinator, Gina Czerwinski, and her husband, Brother Knight Peter, for their coordination, and physicaal efforts, in making this event a success.
