Boy Scout Leader – Troop 110 – Sabattus
Boy Scout Leader - Troop 110 - Sabattus
Council: 13181 - SABATTUS
Project Description:
I, Robert Michaud, am the Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 110 in Sabattus, ME. Our Troop consists of 14 Boy Scouts and 6 or so active leaders that assist me in running this program. Our Troop is quite active, participating in parades, camp outs, summer resident camp, various trips, hikes and other activities. We meet weekly throughout the school year. Our Scouts learn important values including faith, citizenship, leadership, self reliance, and outdoor skills. As an Eagle Scout, I know the value of Scouting and am proud to have been involved with the Troop as we have had 4 Scouts earn their Eagle Rank, the most recent of which is my oldest son. The Scouts are working hard and advancing well with 4 more Scouts at the doorstep of earning their Eagle Rank.
Assisting in the development of young men in a positive, safe environment such as Scouting is an excellent way to do God’s work in a world where there are so many other less positive activities for young people to get involved in. The values that we as Knights uphold are shared by our Troop, and while the Boy Scouts have received some negative press recently for making difficult decisions to avoid legal entanglements, the fact remains that they are in most ways working in ways consistent with our beliefs.
