Coats For Kids

Council: 12941 - BIDDEFORD

Project Description:

This year our council was back in the business of keeping kids warm for the winter. We participated in one of KofC Supreme Council’s favorite charities as we ordered a dozen each of girls’ and boys’ winter coats from the Coats for Kids program and distributed them locally to a parishioner family in need and to Biddeford Primary School for some of the kids over there. We have a photo to prove it.
Additionally, the United Way of York County laid a mass quantity of winter hats and mittens on us to furnish to those in need. There were about 500 pieces in all, mostly handmade and sized for children. To date, we have been able to give quantities of a dozen or more to Biddeford Primary School and to Southern Maine Children’s Academy, a Portland school for special needs kids. We also dropped off many more children’s and infant size hats and mittens to the Open Hearts, Open Hands shop next to Saco Food Pantry and to Alpha Pregnancy Resource Center in Sanford, all to go to those in need at no charge. We sent along all the adult size hats and mittens to be included in the Bennie Bags for Meals on Wheels recipients. There are enough kids’ hats left over now for us to pass them out with the food when we go
