Coats for Kids
Coats for Kids
Council: 1873 - HOULTON
Project Description:
For the first year that I know of, Council 1873 operated a Coats for Kids program. The program was run out of the Parish operated thrift shop known as “Good as New”. We printed signage for the store and provided the shop keeper funding to pay for coats s required for the poor of the area. The shop was also a recipient of a very large number of adult winter coats from a hunting guide with coats that were abandoned at his cabin. We essentially rolled this over into a Coats for Adults effort while still equipping kids with coats if they needed them. Near the end of December the movement of coats stalled and by January was non existent, so the effort eas terminated for the year. At least 25 coats were provided through this effort.
