Coats for Kids
Coats for Kids
Council: 10221 - GORHAM
Project Description:
Our council decided to participate in the Coats for Kids program for the first time this year. Supreme offered to match our purchase and we took advantage of the offer. Between what Supreme matched and what the council purchased, we obtained 120 coats of all sizes and colors. The coats were delivered to Grand Knight Mike Foster’s house where he stored them while they were passed out. The council reached out to a local social services office and the social worker came to Mike’s house and collected around 15 coats for children in the area that were in need. Brother David Theriault, also a member of the Gorham Council was able to identify around 30 local children that were in need. He picked out the sizes needed and distributed them himself. Attached is a picture of one of the children receiving a coat. The rest of the coats were given to the Salvation Army. They typically distribute 400 coats every season and they normally receive second hand coats that need to be inspected and washed. They were extremely grateful to receive 80 brand new coats that were still in the bag.
