Collection of used eye glasses for reuse by New Eyes

Project Description:

KofC Council 11257 has provided containers in St. Joseph’s and St. Pius Churches, Our Lady of Hope Parish, Portland, Me to collect used Eye Glasses for parishioners and friends. The glasses are then boxed and shipped to New Eyes in New Jersey to be reused after being re purposed as eye ware for those in need internationally. To date we have had 21 shipments total 1070 glasses at a shipping cost of $225. This is a service that the parishioners feel is absolutely necessary and better then discarding the glasses as trash. Good for recycling also.
