Community/Senior Turkey Dinner
Community/Senior Turkey Dinner
Council: 1870 - CARIBOU
Project Description:
Fred V Brescia Council #1870 put on there Annual Senior Community Turkey Dinner. Anyone who comes is welcomed. It began on Saturday November 17 2018. It took Five Brother Knights and Four family members to prepare and decorate the hall. It took Five Hours. Then on Sunday from start to finish it took Fifteen(15) Brother Knights and Five (5) Family members to get this awesome Community Dinner and festivities, Nine (9) hours in all. To see their happy faces enjoying the meal, Bingo and prizes was worth it all. The doors opened at 12:00 Noon. We had a Band that played holiday music and the community danced and sang. Then at 2:30 Bingo started until Four (4) PM at which time the Turkey Supper started. The Brother Knights served all the attendees, this also included bringing coffee, snacks, water and punch to the tables. Oh! yes and even Santa popped in. We prepared just over 200 servings. The Turkey meal included: Six (6) Fresh Turkeys sliced, 100lbs of potatoes peeled, and sliced, 50lbs of carrot’s peeled and sliced onions and homemade dressing, gravy, cranberries and rolls. The total cost for the entire meal, snacks, bingo prizes and other miscellaneous items was $1000.00 and was paid entirely by council #1870 . What better way to follow Fr. Michael McGivney then to feed our people. Yes, we were tired but we all had a smile and felt such an accomplishment. For some of these community members it may be the only time they may have a hot meal, and have interaction with family sand friends.
Example a take out was given to a !02 year old lady form Caribou, the joy this must have given her. “Whatever you do onto to them you do onto Me.”
We were also honored to have our Council Chaplain Fr. Agustin to be with us and to give the Blessing and say a few words to the Community.
