Daughters of Isabells Mid-Summer Dinner

Daughters of Isabells Mid-Summer Dinner

Council: 2219 - WESTBROOK

Project Description:

In March 2018, Council 2219, was approached by the Regent of the Daughters of Isabella asking for help in possibly providing a meal for them at their Mid-Summer Meeting, on May 19th, 2018, at St Anthony Parish Hall. After discussing it with the council primary cook, it was agreed to help and prepare as well as serve the meal. The only specification from the daughters was to keep the cost of the meal as low as possible. Just prior to the meal on May 10th, 2018, the parish hall kitchen stove was shut down due to gas safety issues and could not be used until repairs were made. With this being said, the council cook prepared most of the meal at his own residence and hoping that the stove would be ready to at least warm the food prior to the meal. On May 17th we were advised that with the help of Council 2219, the stoves were back in operation. On 19 May 2018, a group of Brother knights arrived at St Anthony Parish Hall Kitchen, cut up all of the salad making items for the salad, then prepared food was warmed up, potatoes and vegetables were cooked as well as making gravy. At 11:30AM, on this date the Daughters of Isabella, from all around the State of Maine were served a Meatloaf Dinner. It should be noted that knowing many do not or can not eat beef, they had a choice of either beef or ground turkey meatloaf. Over 100 ladies were served and many of them very appreciative for the various choices they had. The cost of the meal was keep down to $10 per plate, for all they could eat.
On May 26th the Council received a check for $900 and after expenses a total of $689.93 was profited from this project.
