Day of Prayer and Repentance Mass. 15791

09/15/2018

Council: 15791 - FALMOUTH

Project Description:

I along with my family and another couple attended the Day of Prayer and Repentance Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland on Friday, September 14, 2018. In our attempt to continue our recruiting efforts for our council I extended an invitation to one of our parishioners and his wife to travel in with us to Portland to attend the “Day of Prayer and Repentance Mass” which was conducted by Bishop Robert P. Deeley. The words of Bishop Robert P. Deeley was heard by a large number of parishioners in attendance. The one part of homily I felt struck home with me was when he said “We need the Church. It is there that we find Jesus in the Eucharist. We need, therefore, to find our way forward.” Right now more then ever we as the people in the Church need to know from our leaders that all is being done to correct what has happened to many innocent young people. To many Catholics are losing faith in the ability of the Church to respond to these terrible revelations. We continue to Pray for all concerned, our Bishop, Priests, the victims and their family members each and every day. Following Mass my family and the family with us went out to lunch. We had a nice meal and talked about the Knights of Columbus, our council, and what we stand for as Catholic men and Knights. I did leave them with material to read over, and set-up a time when we will meet once again, with hopes he will be ready to fill out a Form 100 and join our Order and Council.
