Faith Formation Pancake Breakfast

Project Description:

Julie Sanclemente, Parish Faith Formation Coordinator for Pre-K to Grade 5, asked the Knights of Columbus to help with their Faith Formation Retreat for First Year Youth Ministry, on January 21, 2023. The Knights prepared the pancake breakfast, at St Joseph Catholic Church, which is where the Faith Formation (and Knights of Columbus) offices are located. 5 Knights contributed, including Jeff Schaller, Rey Dubois, Walter Shannon, Deacon Luis Sanclemente, and Monseigneur Andrew Dubois. Deacon Luis and Monseigneur Andrew were component presenters in the Youth Retreat, as were 7 other Faith Formation Staff from St Paul the Apostle Parish. Approximate attendance was 50 youth, 30 parents, 6 Knights and wife, and 7 Faith Formation staff.
The event had been announced by Julie Sanclemente in the bulletin, at Faith Formation Classes, and on posters on the entry doors of the 6 parish churches. Many thank-you’s were shared at the event, and in the parish bulletin , on the following weekend. Everyone enjoyed the orange juice, coffee, pancakes, hot emerald syrup, and blueberries!
Masking was not required, but a few people with cold symptoms did wear masks. Close attention was paid to distancing and hygiene. All food servers wore gloves. 4 of the 5 Knights were certified in Protecting God’s Children, and many parents were in attendance. (Note that the Knights were only involved in meal prep, serving, and clean-up.)
