Family of the Month for March 2018
Council: 13861 - SANFORD
Project Description:
The Knights of Columbus St. Thomas Council named the family of Greg Semo as Family of the Month.
Greg and his family moved to Alfred, Maine (from California) in 2016. Greg had proudly served his country for over 20 years in the United States Navy, where he rose to the rank of Master Chief. Being devout Catholics, the Semo family joined the St. Therese of Lisieux Parish.
Greg took his First Degree prior to a St. Thomas Council meeting in the summer of 2016. Greg later took his Second and Third Degree at an exemplification ceremony in January 2017. Greg currently serves as Recorder for the St. Thomas Council. Greg also orghanizes and coordinates the council’s annual Childrens’ Christmas Party.
The Semo family has been very active in church, community and Knights of Columbus activities. The entire family pitches in such activities as the Lenten Friday Haddock suppers, benefit suppers for St. Thomas School, the Annual Parish Harvest Fair and the Knights of Columbus Christmas Party for area needy children.
Greg accepted a position as Business Manager for St. Therese of Lisieux Parish last year. Greg manages the finances of the parish and supervises various persons. Greg built a handicap ramp for the parish office last fall and has started a small food pantry for needy parishioners.
Greg’s family includes his wife Tina who is a substitute teacher in Regional School Unit #57 and hopes to obtain a full time teaching position this fall. Greg and Tina’s oldest daughter Taylor is a senior at Massabesic High School. Taylor is on the school’s swim team and teaches swimming classes at the local YMCA. Taylor plans to attend Southern Maine Community College after graduating from High School. Ciley, Greg and Tina’s youngest daughter is presently in the 8th Grade at Massabesic Middle School and will start her Freshman year at the High School this fall.
