The parish staff organized a “Drive-by” farewell for our retiring pastor Father Frank Murray. This was kept as a surprise from Father. The council was asked to handle traffic control for the event which involved snaking vehicles through 2 separate parking areas ending up in front of the St Mary’s church where Father was standing to view posters, balloons and speak to the parishioners wishing him well observing Covid 19 protocol using masks and staying in their cars. The local television news attended, interviewed Father Murray and when asked what he felt seeing all the cars waiting to wish him well he stated, “Overwhelmed”. He will be staying in Bangor and continue to be the priest we know and love.
