Food Distribution
Food Distribution
Council: 680 - MILLINOCKET
Project Description:
On September 11th, Catholic Charities of Maine held a food distribution drive in the parking lot of the local Hannaford store. Members of Council 680 were asked to help distribute the 6 pallets of food that were earmarked for distribution at this facility. The 10 wheel semi arrived early in the morning and set up in preparation for distribution. Traffic cones were set up to direct traffic into two lanes so Knights could direct the cars to the proper spots and other Knights placed the designated food in each vehicle without the occupants having to leave their cars. Other Knights concentrated on helping the Catholic Charities of Maine staff remove the food from the semi truck to ground level where they could be transported to each vehicle. It took approximately 3 hours to deliver the six pallets of food. Unfortunately there were more people in line than available food. Another food distribution is scheduled for later this month in an attempt to help those who have fallen on harder times with this pandemic. Strict adherence to state mandates including the use of social distancing, gloves, and masks was maintained throughout the distribution phase.
