Project Description:

For the year, 3/1/21 – 3/31/22 our council supported the St. Ignatius Parish Food Closet located at 25 Riverside St. Sanford Maine. We volunteered 1885 hours in support, 960# of food collected at our council meetings and a check for $1207.29. The funds are the proceeds from one of our Lenten haddock dinners. Several of our Brothers and their wives spend countless hour each week inventorying and rotating the stock, ensuring proper temperatures of the freezers several times a week, and filing the necessary for to obtain grants from the State and Federal Government programs to support the food closet throughout the year.
The leaders of our food closet also prepare “special” meals in bags to hand out during Christmas and Easter. They have also purchased coats, hats, and mittens to hand out to those in need.
