Project Description:

On January 26th, 2019, the St. Martin of Tours Council #680 held the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship at Stearns High School in Millinocket. Two weeks before the event, the informational packet and the signup sheets from the kits were distributed to the local elementary, middle, and high schools. Stearns High School was contacted to schedule the date and have a school representative available to unlock the school and provide the supplies needed for the event. Trophies were ordered prior to the event to be given to the Council Champion in each age group. Participation certificates were given to each participant. The purpose of this contest is to provide an athletic outlet and encourage the values of sportsmanship and healthy competition in children ages 9-14. This program is a great way to introduce the Knights of Columbus to the community and recruit faithful family men of service. It is the intent of the Council to submit the winners for competition in the District finals.
