By definition, the word “catholic” means “Universal”. We are able to participate in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass anywhere, world-wide, as long as the Church is in communion with the Holy See. Thus was the case when the Grandmother, Elizabeth K. Serwin (90), of one of our Brother Sir Knights, Patrick Carter (A0346, Augusta), passed recently. Representatives from all three Councils of St. Michael Parish/District Eight, gathered to celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated according to the Syriac Rite of the “Universal” Church. The Mass was presided by Abouna (Reverend Father) James H. Doran, Pastor of St. Joseph. assisting was Subdeacon Stephen Crate, who is also the Grand Knight of Council 11303, Fairfield.
