Funeral Mass for Father Raymond R. Legacé
Funeral Mass for Father Raymond R. Legacé
Council: 334 - AUGUSTA
Project Description:
Ecclesiastes 3 teaches us, “For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven: 2 a time to be born, and a time to die; . . .” We are given both times through the grace of God. We have no control over either. What we do know is that they are both God’s gift to us. What we do with the time between the two is our gift to God.
Father Raymond R. Legacé used the time allotted dedicated to serving others: through education, through his Priesthood, and through his devotion to his friends and family. Three days before his passing, he celebrated his 59th anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood.
On Friday, July 6th, on what would have been his 87th birthday, we gathered at St. Augustine Church, Augusta, to remember, honor, and celebrate the career, Priesthood, and memories of this devout Franciscan Priest. Fr. John Skehan, Pastor, and Fr. Frank Morin (Retired), lead the Prayers of Reception during the lying-in-state prior to the Mass. At 4 PM, Bishop Robert Deeley, assisted by nine of his Brother Priests, celebrated the Funeral Mass for the approximately 125 friends, family, and guests who had gathered.
Burial and committal prayers followed the Mass at the old St. Augustine Cemetery, Augusta.
