Council: 680 - MILLINOCKET

Project Description:

On January 12, 2019, 1 member of Council 680 traveled to Augusta to participate in the Maine Right To Life’s Hands Around The Capital event. This event is where pro life supporters publicly recognize and mourn the Supreme Court decision of Roe v. Wade while providing an intense impact on those who witness this solemn march. The rally and march is organized by the Maine Right to Life Committee, which was founded to protect and uphold the dignity and worth of every human life from conception to natural death. The rally began by attending Mass at St. Mary of Assumption Church celebrated by Bishop Deeley. Participants then gathered at St. Michael’s school to participate in a rally led by Bishop Deeley and other Pro life leaders. After the rally, participants marched to the Capital building and, joining hands, encircled the Capital building. A bell was tolled 46 times in remembrance of the 46 years since the passage of Roe vs Wade. A rose was placed at the base of the Capital with each peal of the bell.
