Council: 680 - MILLINOCKET

Project Description:

On 26, 2018, 10 members of Council 680 participated in the Millinocket Memorial Library Capital Campaign kickoff event. The project coordinator contacted the Knight of St. Martin of Tours Council 680 and asked if members could help with logistics surrounding the kick off of the Community portion of their project. Members helped set up the various tents, tables, and chairs needed for the outdoor activities surrounding the day’s events. They then stayed on to set up the scheduled barbecue. They cooked and served over 200 meals which included hot dogs and hamburgers, potato salad, coleslaw, and strawberry shortcake. At the end of the day, they helped clean up the outdoor events, took down and stored the tables, chairs, and tents they had set up that morning. The Future Library Project is a bold and visionary 1.25 million dollar building renovation to transform the Millinocket Memorial Library into a state of the art regional center of knowledge and discovery. In addition to installation of a digital library, the project also envisions a digital learning lab, a kids imagination station, a teen fab lab, and a Katahdin think tank. The leaders of this project expressed their appreciation for the Council’s efforts in proving a very successful day for the beginning of an aggressive campaign to turn their vision into a reality.
