Project Description:

One of our council brothers along with his family participated in the 2024 March for Life on January 19, 2024 in Augusta. The event, which has been held once a year since 1974, was the second one to be held since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June 2022. The march, which began near the Washington Monument and concluded outside the Supreme Court. A rally took place near the monument, and followed by a gala dinner which took place in the evening. In the days leading up the ‘Women’s March on Maine’ in Augusta the number of people who said they were coming grew and grew. Well, they all showed and then a few more! One of the organizers said there were 10,000 that showed for the event, in support of the Mothers and Babies of Maine! The weather cooperated and the sun even came out before the event was over. From my view point, there were tons of happy men, women and children. There were similar events in a few Maine committees and most state capitals as well as Washington DC. A big thank you to all those who helped in putting this event on and thanks to the Capital Security for helping to keep the event safe.
