Project Description:

Having conducted the Reception of the Body, Liturgy of the Hours, and Visitation of the Body for Rev. John R. Skehan last evening, the Rite of Christian Burial was continued with the Funeral Mass this date. The casket of Fr. Skehan was escorted into the Church by a K of C Honor Guard, prior to the Mass for final viewing.
Just prior to the Mass, the casket was removed from the Church, in preparation for the Mass, again escorted by the Honor Guard.
At the start of the Mass, the casket was, once again, escorted into the Church, this time accompanied by the Knights and Dames of the Equestrian Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre, followed by 85 Deacons and Priests. The Mass was celebrated by the Bishop of Portland, Most Reverend Robert P. Deeley, and concelebrated by the Bishop of Norwich (Connecticut), Most Reverend Michael R. Cote. Following the Mass, Fr Skehan was laid to eternal rest in St. Michael Cemetery, Pelton Hill, Manchester.
After the committal, the Clergy and family returned to St. Augustin Church Hall for a reception, and sharing of rembrances of father Skehan.
