Month of the Holy Rosary Parish Celebration

Project Description:

The month of October each year is dedicated to the Most Holy Rosary. It was instituted by Pope St. Pius V in 1571 to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary, in gratitude for the protection that she gives the Church in answer to the praying of the Rosary by the faithful.

St. Thomas Council #13861, in conjunction with the parish Worship and Spirituality commission, helped organize and celebrate this parish wide event.

A statue of Our Lady of Fatima was carried by 4th Degree Knights in a procession from the church, led by a Knights Honor Guard along with our Parochial Vicar, Father Alex Boucher. The whole congregation (including families from St. Thomas Catholic school) joined the procession around the church grounds, stopping at strategic locations to recite one of the Glorious Mystery decades of the Most Holy Rosary. Each parishioner carried a Rose which they then placed at the feet of Our Lady upon re-entering the church. Father Alex led us in prayers of thanksgiving, including the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

This was followed by the exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Father Alex then celebrated Benediction with Knights assisting him.

The congregation was invited to continue the celebration outdoors where the Knights had set up tents and tables for food and other refreshments.

Afterwards the Knights helped in dismantling the tents and tables and in cleaning the church.

Many parishioners commented on how spiritually uplifting this event was.

St. Thomas Council #13861 is proud to encourage devotion to Mary, the patroness of our Order. We try to emphasize the importance of prayer in community and as a family by participating in events like this and the also the recitation of the Holy Rosary after weekday masses in our parish on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday’s.
