Council: 12941 - BIDDEFORD
Project Description:
Brother Knights started a project of cooking supper meals monthly as part of a community program, Saco Meals. Saco Meals offers free supper to all who drop in 2 evenings a week at the Most Holy Trinity Church hall in Saco. Our council’s turn to cook comes on the 3rd Thursday of the month. We started in May, skipped a month, them continued every month to the end of the reporting year. Over time, the monthly fare included hamburg stroganoff, pulled pork, taco casserole and meat loaf.
One of our Brother Knights worked in advance, planning the meals and helping to order the foodstuffs and other supplies. For each meal, a group of three Knights prepared the main supper course for 60 people: mixing ingredients, then cooking it all and preparing to serve. When the food was ready, the Knights helped with serving the public and washing all the pots and pans, leaving the kitchen spotless for the next go-round.
